    ASSISTANT APPRAISER / APPRAISER

    The Jefferson Central Appraisal District has an opening for an Assistant Appraiser/Appraiser position. Qualified candidates must become eligible for registration with TDLR and complete the RPA designation within allotted time or be registered as a Professional Appraiser. Responsibilities include performing appraisals of land, commercial, residential or personal property to arrive at a fair and equitable value for levying taxes and to assist property owners in understanding tax valuation methodology. Salary: $46,586 – $67,307, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.     EXEMPTION SPECIALIST

    The Jefferson Central Appraisal District has an opening for an Exemption Specialist position. Qualified candidates must be a high school graduate with one year of clerical experience. Responsibilities include responds to incoming telephone calls and direct to the correct department; assists public in resolving identified problems both by telephone and in writing; processes exemption applications; verifies permits for account numbers, and prepares permits and rechecks; researches past ownership; provides documentation for Appraisal Review Board and assists with ARB hearings. Salary: $36,392 – $44,236, depending on qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.   • Texas General Land Office (3/26/2024)

    The Texas General Land Office has two positions open in their Appraisal Services department. To be successful the candidate must model the GLO's competencies of Integrity, Open Communications, Teamwork, Innovation and Proficiency.

    Appraiser II: Conducts intricate (journey-level) appraisal tasks. Operates under general supervision, with a moderate degree of autonomy for the application of initiative and independent judgment. Individuals at this level are expected to work with greater independence compared to lower levels and consistently aid other staff in carrying out job duties of increased complexity.

    Appraiser III: Conducts advanced appraisal work with minimal supervision, exercising significant discretion for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Additionally, the employee may contribute to the development and interpretation of new policies and procedures for appraisal processes, offering guidance on appraisal methodologies and matters related to land valuations.

    Appraiser IV: Performs advanced (senior-level) appraisal duties. Operates with minimal supervision, exercising extensive freedom in employing initiative and independent judgment. Individuals at this level are proficient in handling the most intricate appraisal tasks, may provide counsel on and negotiating resolutions for appraisal and acquisition issues, and may be responsible for negotiating fees and work specifications with appraisers, technical experts, and expert witnesses.
